ART PHOTOGRAPHER: KEVIN VANDIVIER
His Photographic Journey
Vandivier first discovered his love for photography after the Vietnam War and the draft ended just when it was his time to go. Photography turned out to be a good fit for him. He shot his first assignment for National Geographic Society while he was in his third year at The University of Texas studying Photojournalism. Upon graduation he landed his first job at The Dallas Times Herald. Missing the freedom of freelance photography, Kevin left the Herald after a few years picking up where he left off, shooting for National Geographic Society in addition for Life, Newsweek, Texas Monthly and many others. He also began hanging his Fine Art Collections in several Galleries including Angelina Center for the Arts; Alpha Omega Fine Art Photography Museum; Concordia University Fine Arts Gallery and many others. Kevin did take a break from his freelance work for a few years to serve as Photography Editor at Texas Highways Magazine. These days Kevin has added leading photographers on workshop adventures to really cool locations.

Artist Statement
For years Vandivier worked as a photojournalist around the world shooting for many of the top publications. We tend to live in a bubble here in America and Vandivier's eyes were opened to so many beautiful places and people outside the USA. As well, his eyes were opened to so many horrible and heart broken lives. Photographically he developed two photographic personalities. One that is desperate to give a voice to the voiceless and another to memorialize the incredible beauty we call "God's Creation". Vandivier says he has always enjoyed the many awards for his work throughout the years, but nothing comes close to the joy he feels when someone takes hard earned cash out of their pocket to acquire one of his prints to hang on their wall and enjoy for 15-20 years. "Now thats the best honor!" according to Vandivier. Due to limited availability, Vandivier masterwork, prints cannot be purchased online.
