WILDFLOWERS FINE ART PHOTOGRAPHY
Limited Edition Prints by Master Art Photographer Kevin Vandivier
Wildflowers is a collection of images Kevin Vandivier has captured throughout his career, mostly in his home state, Texas. Vandivier is very particular about what makes for a great landscape fine art print. He often tells aspiring photographers that most landscapes require both an incredible foreground worthy of memorializing in a photo, but a skyscape to crown it with. Vandivier's fine art is sold in limited editions. Due to the hands on process Vandivier requires for the printing of his work, we are unable to sell our prints online, which usually require the use of a photo fulfillment center, which pretty much translates to machine prints. The fine art photography at The V Gallery is sold mostly in limited editions. "I am the way" is probably my favorite wildflower landscape! That field was the thickest fileld of flowers I have ever seen in my life. The reason for it was a severe drought. What had happened is Lake Travis had receeded so far that years of seeds that had sunk to the bottom of the lake bed, laying dormant, finaly were exposed to sunlight and the results were the fine art displayed here. Spring Fling was shot south of San Antonio, Texas on one of those easy to miss country roads. Like so many photo ops throughout my travels in my career, I was driving down the highway heading to where I thought some fields might be and for some reason, when I passed this road, I felt this strong pull to explore it. So I did. I had traveled about five miles when I was about to give up and turn around when turning a curve suddenly there was all these fields of various wildflowers. I spent the rest of the day shooting the area. I even got so lucky to meet one of the ranch owners as they were returning home. They invited onto their ranch to shoot which is where this art displayed here was created. Blue Velvet was shot in the same area as Bluebonnet Road, but two years later as the drought was ending. We would get these incredible spring storms rolling through and some would produce some incredible lightening displays as the storms began to die down at the end of the day. I was lucky enough to be at this location when lightening began to finger across the sky, allowing me to create the art you see displayed here. Spring Feast was created in Nacogdoches, Texas. I was trying a new lighting technique at the time. I was back lighting these blooming azaleas when this Monarch Butterfly suddenly appeared, feeding on the azaleas. Normally it is difficult to freeze the wings of a butterfly in mid flight, but with the flash, it allow the wings to frezze, leaving just a touch of movement at the tips, which is what helps make the photo in my creative mind:) Please contact our Art Specialist if you are interested in acquiring this limited edition Print.

I have been photographing Bluebonnet House for years. This has been one of my best sellers and about 5 years ago, I decided to move to Marble falls, which is near where this house sits. I happened to meet the historian of this area and when he heard my last name he lit up and became very excited. Turns out my distant uncle settled this area and had built the house pictured. Its official name is the Vandivier House. Guess i'm backwoods royalty:) If your interesyed in acquiring this limited edition print please contact our Art Specialist.

You never know the hazards a photographer might face when out in the field. I've had lava blobs land at my feet, I've had a tornado pick my car up in a hurricane, I've had guns pointed at my face, etc. I had met the owner of this land the year before and he had welcomed me to shoot on it anytime I wished. He even has no fences, free range if you will. I was set up shooting this image. I'm just a few feet off the public road when this cowboy type starts yelling and cursing me for being on this property. He tells me I'm trespassing and he's going to have me arrested. Knowing the land was not his and I had permission, I smiled at him and just continued my shooting, ignoring his tempertantrum. After finishing up my shooting, this guys is still there yelling at me. I continue to ignore him, at this point the guy gets in my space and starts threatening to kick my shrinking behind. I couldn't help myself, I just started laughing at this guy telling him how childess he sounded. I then asked him if he owned the property. That shut him up. Before he could say anything else, I told him he wasn't, that I knew the owner and had permission to be there. He got real quiet, got in his truck and cowarded down the road. My poor new intern had just arrived from China and was standing there in shock. That was his first experience of Texas. I turned to him and welcomed him to Texas! We laughed and sat down to continued enjoying that serene view in the art here! Please contact our Art Specialist if you are interested in acquiring this limited edition print.
